So I have a new agent named Mira and she is one of the coolest Koreans I've ever met. She picked me up at the subway station today and was wearing white ripped jeans, 5 inch black heels, and a day glow 80s style t-shirt. She is fluent in English and has promised to get me work as a model in Korea. Of course there is a catch...my E-2 visa only allows me to teach. So I have to get an E-4 Entertainment visa..Mira says there are two ways to get this: Option 1) Go to Tokyo and get it. And Option 2) Marry a Korean. I opted for Option 1. So Mira says the best news I've heard...........when I book my first job, the agency will pay for me to fly TO TOKYO!!! I was thrilled inside, but remained calm on the inside. So in the meantime, my headshots and photos are circulating the Seoul modeling scene seeing if they get any bites.
My interview with Mira was interesting. I took Robert Redford's famous advice and wore a white collared shirt to show off my tan. I had my huge heels on, but was quickly reminded that you take your shoes off everywhere in Korea, so it didn't really matter. Then Mira explained the visa situation and asked for my headshot. I gave her the only one I had with me in Korea. I had meant to give it to Jeremy before I left, but I forgot, so I was stuck with one photo of my face that a photographer took back in November. My friend Bryon told me it looked like a senior yearbook photo lol. So I handed it to Mira and she goes "your hair........." and I'm like "yea...that's my natural hair." She's like "you look so much younger......." Lol..I'm like "yea, Korean children have aged me 5 years, so I need to swich careers." She loved that and actually hugged me lol.
The whole thing took about 15 minutes. She took a bunch of profile shots of me. I trust her a lot. And I think if the opportunity came to choose between Pagoda and doing this, I would def leave Pagoda. I have my favorite students, but teaching all the rest of them sucks.
Anyway, so that's that. Other good news is I found out the dates I have off in Fall. It's Sept 26th - October 4th. And theres a FULL MOON PARTY in Koh Phangan, THAILAND that week!! I have to go. I don't care how expensive the flight is. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm so psyched for it. I'm going to save so much money this summer. I wanna go so bad!
So many good things happening this summer! 2009 has been a great year so far : )
